Letter From the Editor (23/24)

by Kearin Green

It’s that time of year! Welcome back all!

As a new academic year blooms, Spyglass Magazine introduces further stories, news and a brand new committee for 2023/2024. Our new committee consists of George Todd as our head of design, Apollo Daka as our welfare officer, Anusha Adhikari as our social media secretary, Mervan Mustafa as our treasurer and myself, Kearin Green, as the society’s president and editor-in-chief.

A year after rebranding ourselves, the success of the magazine’s upgrade has become a criterion for the new committee to adhere to. This has become a form of motivation for the society as a whole to flourish further through potential development and creative ideas yet to bloom.

At Spyglass, we value broadcasting truth and diversity in opinions through our articles. We admire unique and creative journalism bound in fact, authenticity and value sentimental and profound work that comes from our writers’ and artists’ most personal burrow.

In the last year, some of our most popular topics ranged from recent and significant university news and current affairs to neurodivergency, politics, movie reviews, LGBTQ+-related topics and articles exploring unique, personal experiences.

As we continue to tell these stories, the potential for new ideas is endless. As we look for new writers and artists to join our team, we’re always looking for new readers. Without you, our morale would be low and we would be writing into thin air. For our stories to be empowered, an audience to acknowledge is essential to driving momentum.

Thank you for supporting Spyglass!

We can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on!
