Freshers' Fayre (20th-22nd Sept)

It all starts with the infamous fayre - three days of freebies, food and scanning QR codes down at the Union Building.

From 10am-4pm each day, you will have the chance to find out about everything outside of academics at uni, including more than 100 different societies and sports clubs. Obviously, make sure you check out the Spyglass stall on 20th September to meet our committee and get the deets about our first social of the year.

If you’re there for the freebies look out for Domino’s, always on hand with free pizza at every student event, and The Astoria bar. Representatives from other organisations will also be present, such as Portsmouth FC and the Department of Education. Expect to come home with bags full of free pens, stickers and lanyards which are likely to sit on your bedroom floor until Christmas.

Sports Fayre (20th Sept) and Give Me Sport (23rd-25th Sept)

This year UoP Sport are hosting their own Sports Fayre at the brand new Ravelin Sports Centre. Head over to the centre between 10am and 4pm to check out the long-awaited facilities and chat to any of the 35 sports clubs, from Dance to Lacrosse.

For even more sport, don’t miss out on the Give Me Sport weekend. Tickets are £10 if you buy them before this Sunday, and include taster sessions for as many of the 35 sports clubs as you can fit in, as well as the chance to try the new gym and fitness classes at Ravelin.

Your ticket comes in the form of a limited edition 2022 Give Me Sport t-shirt, which gives you access to everything during the weekend, as well as an exclusive after-party at The Astoria on Sunday 25th.

Nights out (18th Sept- 2nd Oct)

Thinking of going out out? Whether you're a clubbing newbie or the first one dropping it like it's hot every Purple Wednesday, you won't be short of options this Freshers’.

If you want to sort all your nights out in one purchase, check out 'The Official University of Portsmouth Freshers’ Pack', sold by Union partners Eskimo11. This gives you access to some of the biggest clubbing events until the end of the month, including the Moving In Party, Freshers’ Rave and ABBA Night. The Early Bird packs are now sold out so you will have to act fast (and be prepared to fork out £30) if you still have your heart set on one of these.

Unless you are going out every night for the next two weeks (you clearly ooze stamina) the best option is to pick and choose your nights. This also means you can vary where you go, and there’s lots of other events to look out for beyond the Freshers’ Pack. If you love a theme, check out ‘Sh*t Shirt Night’ at Pryzm on 26th September- or if a drag bottomless brunch is more your scene, head over to The Dockyard next Friday.
